DISCLAIMER

All our swords are sold sharpened by the manufacturer and are potentially dangerous if misused or abused. They are intended solely for serious-minded collectors and martial-arts practitioners who follow the appropriate training and safety protocols.

Our swords are not designed for “live-steel” sparring, theatrical combat, or historical re-enactment. (Please use wooden wasters, stage props, or re-enactment blunts for these activities.) They are also not intended for pruning foliage, cutting down trees, or chopping firewood. (These activities can and will damage a sword, so please use more appropriate tools.) Finally and most importantly, our swords are not intended for self-defense purposes. (See Sword Care for more information.)

Though, to our knowledge, swords are not specifically illegal to own in the United States of America or many other parts of the world, carrying any weapon for “self-defense” almost invariably is illegal without the proper permits. It is the buyer’s responsibility to conform to all local, national, and international laws and regulations regarding the ownership, transport, and use of edged weapons. Check applicable legal codes before ordering. We will not knowingly sell to minors.

The heyday of the sword has long since passed, but a modern sword is still a weapon and should be treated with the respect that fact demands. If mishandled, a sword can cause serious injury or even death to its user or bystanders. It is the sword owner’s responsibility to handle and use that sword in a safe and appropriate manner.

Accordingly, by purchasing from Dancing Giant Swords, the customer agrees to release DGS, its owners, and its employees from any and all financial, legal, or moral liability for any property damage, psychological trauma, personal injury, or fatality resulting from said customer’s abuse, misuse, or negligent handling of DGS merchandise.
